The Gaze, or Looking Back
The Journey, or Moving On
Structure, or Holding On

Alison's work uses both original and archival imagery to explore memory, time and movement, or change. She has a distinctive style in cut-paper work and collage  as well as the more traditional processes of drawing and painting. Formally she is interested in space, structure and surface, exploring the space between the image and the viewer, as well as the structural spaces within the work itself, leading her to experiment with installation as part of her practice. Her work has a strong relationship to photography both as source material and medium.

Alison's work is available to purchase please contact the artist for more details.
Alison also creates work to commission, drawings, paintings or mixed media pieces using your own archival images. Original images can be scanned to create high quality photographic copies so that the original remains intact. Alison's work may also be  signed under her previous name of Cronin.

Born in the UK, Alison completed a two year art foundation course in 1993, and subsequently won a place on a degree course. Life got in the way however, and she never took up that place, but instead moved to Ireland in 1995, where she became a mother to two boys in West Cork.
Continuing creative pursuits in whatever ways she could find time for as a single mother, she eventually became involved with the Sherkin Island/DIT Visual Art pilot programme and began working for West Cork Arts Centre as Schools and Youth Coordinator. By 2010, she had completed her BA(Hons) in Visual Art on Sherkin Island, with first class honours. She has since gone on to be co-founder of Shape Art Studio and exhibited across Ireland, whilst also continuing her work interpreting contemporary art practice for children and young people.
